Altrusa International, Inc. of Tampa, Florida is proud to host the 56th Annual District Three Conference at the Tampa Airport Westshore Hilton Hotel from April 23 through April 25, 2009.

The Conference theme is “Empowering Altrusans”.

The Conference will kick off on Thursday night, April 23, 2009 with a Welcome Reception and a First Timers Event followed by our Opening Ceremony featuring the traditional flag ceremony to honor all four states in our District – Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina – as well as the United States and the United Nations.

Friday morning will begin with the opening breakfast with our special guest speaker and featuring a moving memorial ceremony honoring those Altrusans who have died in the past year. The breakfast will be followed by the first business meeting of the conference. The Friday District Three Foundation lunch will follow where winners of the Foundation projects will be announced. Friday afternoon will be filled with seminars that will be both educational and fun. Finally, Friday night will feature a Fun Night Luau you won’t want to miss.

Saturday begins another full day with the Awards Breakfast followed by another business meeting. Lunch and the afternoon will be filled with opportunities to enjoy our beautiful City with a planned conference tour or on your own. From beaches to shopping to historical sites, there is something here for everyone! The Conference will conclude with the Governor’s Banquet on Saturday night honoring District Three Governor Robin Hall.

Throughout the Conference there will be exhibitors and vendors. Our very special District Three project will be collecting new shoes for Laces of Love, an organization that has provided more than 15,000 pairs of new shoes to economically disadvantaged children. For more information on this worthy organization, please see their website.

It will be a fun-filled and busy three days: meeting new friends, renewing old friendships, hearing the great things that have been done in the past year, enjoying great food in a beautiful hotel, shopping, touring our beautiful city, and being “altruistic” with our service project.

Rooms are limited so we urge you to make your hotel reservations early. Register now at Hilton Hotel - Altrusa 2009 District Three Conference or by phone at 813-874-5009 (be sure to ask for the Altrusa group rate).

bulletYBOR CITY is Tampa's National Historic Landmark District. Florida's Latin Quarter experience beckons you back to another era. Wrought iron balconies, globe streetlights, brick-lined walkways and the majestic architecture of cigar factories, social clubs and other unique buildings, provide a glimpse into an era rich with culture and history. Today, Ybor City is a shopping, dining and entertainment district where the ancient art of premium hand-rolled cigar making lives on. And, we also boast a nightlife as colorful as our Spanish Flamenco dancers. www.ybor.org
